The Duke University Talent Identification Program for Academically Talented Students

DukeTip

The Duke University Talent Identification Program (Duke TIP) helps academically talented children through a number of programs.  TIP’s goal is to provide resources, enrichment activities, and advice to ensure students reach their highest potential. TIP offers educational programs for students in grades four through 12, including residential summer programs, weekend programs during the academic year, distance learning programs, and independent learning options. TIP is not for everyone, and for middle school students, it does not count for college. Nevertheless, at International College Counselors we still believe this to be a great program.

For middle school students, there are the 7th Grade Talent Search and the 8th-10th Grade Option.

About the 7th Grade Talent Search

This program

  • Identifies eligible 7th grade students through test scores.
  • Registers these students to take the SAT or ACT during their 7th grade school year as a low-stress, low-risk opportunity to experience the exam before it really counts.
  • Provides students their scores along with information on how to create an educational plan based on them.
  • Offers access to special Duke TIP publications and online resources, as well as discounted access to Duke TIP’s year-round Independent Learning courses and products.
  • Uses the student’s scores on the SAT or ACT to qualify students for various other Duke TIP options including TIP’s Summer Studies programs and/or eStudies courses.
  • Offers access to TIP’s gifted education experts who will provide guidance and advice.
