International College Counselors Welcomes Andrea Brody as Director of College Advising
International College Counselors is excited to welcome Andrea Brody to our team as a Director of College Advising.
A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, as well as an Emmy Award-winning broadcast journalist and educator, Andrea brings a powerful combination of college admissions experience as a college admissions counselor, storytelling expertise, and student mentorship to her work with families. She has spent her career helping people communicate their stories with clarity, authenticity, and confidence—skills that are invaluable in today’s highly competitive college admissions process.
Throughout her counseling career, Andrea has helped students gain admission to some of the nation’s most selective colleges and universities, including Harvard, Yale, MIT, the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Michigan, and the University of Florida, among many others. She is particularly skilled at helping students develop meaningful passion projects and extracurricular pursuits that reflect their genuine interests while positioning them for success in the college application process.
A College Admissions Counselor With Deep Storytelling Expertise
Before joining International College Counselors, Andrea worked at both the national and local levels of broadcast journalism, covering major news stories and conducting countless interviews. Through that work, she developed an exceptional ability to listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions, and help individuals express what makes them unique.
Andrea now applies those same skills to helping students craft compelling college essays, create video introductions, prepare for interviews, and present themselves effectively throughout the application process. Her background in journalism gives her a distinctive ability to help students uncover the experiences, values, and personal qualities that can make an application stand out.
Andrea also serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Miami, where she teaches journalism with a focus on writing, communication, and storytelling. Her expertise helps students identify their strengths, uncover what makes them distinctive, and develop authentic narratives that resonate with admissions committees.
Experience With Selective College Admissions
At the University of Pennsylvania, Andrea earned her bachelor’s degree with honors. She also holds a master’s degree from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. For more than a decade, she served as co-chair of the University of Pennsylvania Alumni Interview Program in Miami, partnering closely with Penn Admissions to coordinate hundreds of applicants and conduct numerous alumni interviews.
This experience gives Andrea valuable insight into how students can present themselves thoughtfully and confidently in interviews, essays, and applications.
Andrea believes the strongest college applications are built on self-discovery, purpose, and authenticity. Her approach encourages students to pursue opportunities that genuinely excite them, allowing them to build impressive applications while enjoying a meaningful and fulfilling high school experience.
Born and raised in North Miami Beach, Andrea brings both professional expertise and personal insight to her work. As a parent, she has firsthand experience navigating selective college admissions and performing arts pathways. Her son is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, and her daughter is pursuing a BFA in Musical Theatre at the University of Michigan.
