FAFSA To Be Required for Florida Bright Futures effective July 1

Starting July 1, a completed FAFSA will be required from all students applying for and/or receiving a Bright Futures scholarship. This new law, applies to incoming freshman as well as students renewing their Bright Futures scholarships. Students who do NOT submit a FAFSA application will not receive their Bright Futures Scholarship money this fall.

To Expand Access, UF Prepares to Roll Out a No-Fall-Semester Option

International College Counselors shares the information that the University of Florida is planning to grow by introducing a spring and summer only cohort. Students enrolled in this program will be considered full-fledged undergraduates, but they will be allowed to live and take classes on the UF campus only during the spring and summer.

Currently, the university plans to enroll the first spring-summer students in January 2013.

Coming Soon: Changes to the 2011-12 Common Application

The Common Application announced changes to its standardized admission form. The 2011-12 version of the Common Application includes new questions about marital status and children, and an optional question about military status. The new version, which will go live on August 1, also asks for more-detailed information about language proficiency and prior college-level coursework. Miami Dade College is Free for Students with a 3.0 GPA or Higher.
